Buddy – I know you shouldn't have favourites but my little ‘Bud Bud' is my beautiful baby. I never use to understand how you could get attached to guinea pigs until we had Buddy and Vadar, but they are real characters and extremely loving.

Buddy is a coronet which we bought from a pet shop in Cheshire. His origins are from one of these mass production breeding companies, which I can state here and now I am totally against. As I unravel our story I hope it will prevent other people making the same mistake as we did.

We had them both neutered at an early age as being first time owners of guinea pigs did not understand boar behaviour – something that we since regret hugely now as you can imagine I would like nothing better than a tribe of ‘Buddy' and ‘Vadars'. I went back to the pet shop we bought them from in the hope they could assist us in tracking the batch of guineas they came from – silly silly me to think that a pet shop would assist me with such a request – rather fobbed me off .
