January

Goals this month:

1) Finish editting Cubed
2) Finish E.V script
3) Create new VideoVows website
4) Lose weight

Monday 9th

On the way to work this morning, I started thinking about what I didn't like about the E.V script and basically 99% of the film is set in my house with little humaity from characters other than the 2 leads.

I've come up with a craking way of getting the lead out of the house and making his boss/mate a little more human so will redo those scenes in the script late on tonight when I get home. I also now have another ending which is as good as the original so I may up filming 2 of the buggers and pick the best one.

I'd held off filming this E.V at the advisal of quite a prominent producer who basically wanted me to be less rusty when I film it as it's got quite a good script but all I've done is try to write quickie films to work out the bugs but they've ended up getting rave reviews so I've wrote yet more smaller films and I think that's what's getting me down - I've got the ability and the kit but lack somewhere to start. Maybe it's with having to do it all on my own.

Sunday 8th

Watched a preview of War Horse at the local cinema and thought it was an amazing film! I can't believe some of the stupid comments that people are making about the film.

Still gutted that the music video fell through and am still feeling very down.

Saturday 7th

I can't seem to relax today as I started working on the new script Still Life and am getting nowhere fast. Got quite a few ideas down but the dialog I've written is crap, laughable at best. I can't concentrate so am going to mope and watch Sky.

Friday 6th

Don't wanna be sat here at work and I'm quite miserable as I was looking forward to the music video and getting something out there and starting to work my way back up the long ladder.

Thursday 5th

Just heard back from the hockey team that they don't like the new choice of song due to some parts of the video as they don't want either the club or players to look like fools although I'm not too sure how they look in a naked calender but arts art as they say.

I'm quite gutted at this and so hget Clarky on the case as she's more diplomatic and level headed than me. After she fires off a few emails, It's decided that we'll do some sort of new music video next August in the new hockey season and we might also come up with some video promos for them.

Wednesday 4th

Another day at work. Feeling quite down now as it's same old same old. It starts to sink in that I need to get my butt in gear and get my wedding business setup to escape the daily trudge.

Tonight, I spent another 4 hours planning the LMFAO wedding video storyboards - I need roughly 125 camera setups to be filmed over 2 days max. Wow that's a lot of work but at least I have my trusty cousin Ashley to help out!

Tuesday 3rd

Back to work day after the holidays and I'm hating every minute and can't wait to get home! Once home, I grab a copy of the LMFAO video from Google and start breaking down the scenes and camera setups spending 4 hours doing so. I'm knakcered and so off to bed. Sleep tight my minions!

Monday 2nd

Clarky (The Mrs) has asked me to think about producing a charity music video for the Ice Hockey team that she supports. At first, I wasn't interested as the 2 songs ideas that they'd come up with were Grease Megamix and Ice Ice Baby. TBH, I see these songs as cheesey and old hat so told her that I wasn't intersted.

We both then came up witht he idea of doing Sexy and I know it by LMFAO and to me, the idea clicked as the team had already brought out a Calender Girls style naked calender before Christmas.

Clarky has done an amazing ammount of work planning and getting people involved so I'm quite looking forward to filming this now.

Sunday 1st

Happy New Year!

Well what a start to the New Year Twisted Films have as we're currently editting our latest film Cubed as well as writing our next short film, Still Life.

We had quite a few ups and downs last year as well as quite a few false starts on some of our short films due to 2 lots of cast pulling out of a short called E.V which has been put on hold for the time being.

Last August, Terry purchased a new RED camera and has spent quite a bit of time practising with it and has been dying to make a start filming again as it's been over 3 years since he "gave up".

After a few false starts of losing cast and being messed about by financers and crew, we finally started work on our first short film in 3 years called Cubed which came about to test the new camera equipment and to give Ashley Gudgeon a short film for his showreel.

Filming Cubed flagged quite a few points that we need to work on over the course of the newt film in that we had the following problems:

1) Getting to bed too late before the next days shoot.
2) Getting up too late on the morning of the shoot and wasting half the day.
3) Having too many lighting setups through having to ditch the script and work with nothing as one of the cast didn't turn up.
4) Choosing the right lens for the scene and having to change them too many times.
5) Finding the appropriate angle

Once we're ready to film Still Life, I'll make sure that all cast have contracts so that we don't have anymore of this pulling out on the first day of principal photography and leaving us up the swanny as in the past, I've just cancelled the short film instead of precevering.

I'll also make sure that all crew is in bed early the night before and that we're set up and ready to go by 8.30am at the latest thus being ready for the cast and having a fully fired up mind.

More work will have to be done on the script to stop all this moving about the set and having to do complete lighting changes every 5 minutes as it slows us down and breaks momentum.

As for points 4 and 5, I'm going to create my "shot bible" by studying big budget blockbusters and taking lots of screen grabs as to how the various shots were set up and light. This will help me greatly whilst I brush away the cob webs as I'll be able to use it whilst writing and whilst on set to help me make the films look great.
